I got a job in New Zealand! I now work for Tait Communications and have already worked two days. I am working in the Marketing Department and am pretty excited to gain some experience in the field and learn a lot. If you don’t know anything about Tait, here is a pretty good intro video to who they are and what they do:

Essentially, they create communications solutions for Public Safety, Utilities, and Transport agencies. It’s a fairly large company and growing quickly. I really enjoy the team I am on and will enjoy learning from them and working with them. Many of the skills I developed at Grace will come in handy here – I’ll be writing, creating web content, and maybe even doing some video work.

When you think about it, the fact that I have a full-time, permanent position and was in the office 1 month and 2 days after arriving in New Zealand with no job prospects is truly miraculous. I met a Tait employee on our first Sunday at church, and he suggested I apply for the job. The whole process only took a few weeks, and we’re thrilled to have the position.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers, now our next big step is finding somewhere permanent to live! Surprisingly, this has proven extremely difficult. As we’ve said before, a couple of huge Earthquakes did extensive damage here in the last couple years. Many homes are still condemned, which means many families have filled up all the rentals while their actual homes get repaired. There are also a lot of workers who have moved to New Zealand as geotechnicians, builders, architects, and so on.

The good news is we do have a roof over our heads thanks to kindness of Peter and Adrienne. They also have a dog named Abby who is a complete mental case, but friendly!
